Encouragement Inspires Motivation

JM was once on the verge of dropping out of school but has triumphed over many personal hurdles and managed to complete all his high school credits, in addition to passing all sections of exit level TAKS.

While grades were never JM’s problem, he struggled with substance abused and relapsed on several occasions, making it difficult for this smart student to excel in school. When CIS first starting working with him, JM had no interest in graduating high school. He even withdrew from school before Christmas but re-enrolled before spring semester began. JM seemed a bit more positive about his future and even discussed the possibility of college.

CIS workers constantly provided positive encouragement and witnessed a distinct change upon his return to school: great attendance and motivation to finish is remaining credits. In March, he completed all requirements and passed the TAKS, receiving commended performance in two sections.
